Our Courses

Introduction to AI

This three-day course provides participants with a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) in the context of air traffic management (ATM). Participants will explore the current and future solutions of AI in the ATM domain and learn to analyse the potential benefits for individuals, organisations, and the overall ATM system. The course also covers the safety, security, ethical, and legal implications of AI systems, and offers insights into the AI roadmap developed by EASA, including the regulatory aspects at the European level. This course is available in-person or hybrid and requires no prerequisites.

Currently being delivered at EUROCONTROL Aviation Learning Centre (dates here).

AI Technologies and Applications

This three-day course offers a deep dive into AI technologies and their applications in aviation. Participants will learn how to train and validate algorithms, operate AI processes, and control AI performance through practical use cases. The course covers selecting appropriate AI methods for specific use cases, deploying end-to-end AI projects, and understanding the key tools and programming languages used in AI solutions. Hands-on experience is provided, building on the foundational knowledge from the Introduction to AI course. Available in-person or hybrid.

Currently being delivered at EUROCONTROL Aviation Learning Centre (dates here).

EASA Regulatory Requirements for AI

This comprehensive three-day course provides an in-depth understanding of the EASA regulatory requirements for AI. Participants will explore the AI roadmap developed by EASA, which outlines the regulatory landscape for AI systems at the European level. The course focuses on the essential dimensions of regulatory compliance, including safety, security, human performance, liability, and ethics. Available in-person or hybrid, with no prerequisites.

AI Awareness for Managers

In this focused six-hour course, managers will gain a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts of AI, with a specific emphasis on current and future applications in the ATM domain. The course also raises awareness of the AI roadmap developed by EASA and covers the regulatory aspects of AI systems at the European level. This course is available in-person or hybrid and requires no prerequisites.

AI for Safety Management

This two-day course explores how AI can enhance Safety Management activities, with a focus on AI-based risk models like the Bow Tie method for safety assessment and data mining. Participants will learn safety management principles and techniques and how to use AI-enhanced Bow-Tie methods to quantify risk levels and predict the impact of changes. The course includes training on the HAIKAI Bow-Tie Predictive Software, which integrates AI models into common risk assessment methodologies such as ERC, SIRA, and ERCS for Aviation SMS frameworks. Designed for aviation safety professionals, this course is available in-person or hybrid. Currently delivered by HAIKAI for the Italian Flight Safety Committee (IFSC).

AI Regulatory and Legal framework

This two-day course provides a comprehensive overview of the European AI regulatory and legal framework in aviation. Participants will engage in case studies to discuss the current regulatory landscape, including the AI Act, aviation law, liability risks, and data protection (GDPR). The course also covers the EASA AI Roadmap and guidance material, along with non-binding ethical principles for AI in aviation. The course can be customised to focus on specific topics and is available in-person, hybrid, or fully virtual, with no prerequisites.
